Moringa Project Engels

Moringa Oleifera

Moringa Oleifera, better known as the Moringa or the Miracle Tree. It is fast-growing, and heat-resistant, and is considered to be one of the most useful trees in the world. We are going to grow these trees on a plot of 3500 square meters of the land belonging to the Ahava Project. Moringa is extremely fit to grow in Chikhwawa because the tree agrees with sandy soil, a lot of sunshine and just a drop of rain. The leaves of the Moringa tree are edible. After picking them from a tree they can be consumed uncooked or cooked. The leaves can also be dried and stored as dried powder. Moringa Oleifera is a promising food in the tropics, because at the end of  the dry season when other food resources are getting scarce, the tree bears its leaves, and provides for a rich treasure of vitamins! It contains vitamin A, various forms of vitamin B, vitamin C, vitamin D and vitamin E. Moringa leaves have more vitamins than any other food variety. The harvest of Moringa leaves will especially benefit the HIV patients, malnourished children and pregnant or lactating women in our area.
